In a previous blog post and episode, we discussed the ways in which game companies are using RPG and casino tactics in order to manipulate individuals with mental illness and children. There's too much content to cover in a single post or episode of the podcast and as a result, warrants a second look. In addition to the ways that companies will exploit using casino tactics, they also play on the mind and how it perceives various things. In a patent by one predatory company, it has been seen that there were plans to employ a system to match low spending used with those who regularly pay to get the best stuff. This was to be done in an effort to make the low spender spend more. By implementing these types of systems they intend to play on players who want to succeed and think that by spending more they too can sweep through battles with ease. This type of practice is scummy at best and at worst a practice that seeks to make as much money as possible. What are your thoughts on this type of system?
